InterfaceFlor Europe

InterfaceFLOR is a leading manufacturer of carpet tiles, with a longstanding commitment to sustainability through its Mission Zero promise – to eliminate any negative impact on the environment by 2020. We began working with the company in 2008, writing an internal briefing for the sales teams which we then developed into material for the external website.

The material explains initiatives towards Mission Zero (which was adopted in 1994) with examples and case studies at both manufacturing and management level. We also covered the company’s social strategy, including employee and supply chain activity.

The centrepiece of the sales briefing document is describing the environmental impacts of InterfaceFLOR's products, using life cycle analysis. This gives customers information to help choose the most sustainable options based on reliable facts. The brief, which is currently used as a 'texbook' for sales training, is a key element in helping sales people to elaborate on sustainability, increasingly a deciding factor in tenders. The brief also contains sections on the role of floors in achieving more sustainable buildings and meeting green building standards such as LEED or BREEAM.
